Grass River Shiver Snowshoe Race and Family Fun Day
The beautiful trails of the Grass River Natural Area in Antrim County will be the site of the first ever “Grass River Shiver” Snowshoe Race. Registration for the 5 mile race will begin Saturday, February 19 at 9:00am at the Grass River Natural Area located at 6500 Alden Highway between Alden and Bellaire. Co-sponsors for the event will be Torch Chiropractic Family Wellness Center, Brick Wheels and SEEDS. At 9:30am, Brick Wheels will conduct a snowshoe demonstration followed by the race at 10:00am. Great prizes will be awarded! There will be a 2.5 mile course for non-racers that will also begin at 10:00am.
Following the race, there will be fun family activities including Snowshoe Soccer, Snowshoe Volleyball, Hibernation Hike with a Grass River naturalist, and crafts. Pizza, hot chocolate, and coffee provided by SEEDS will be available for a nominal fee weather permitting.
The cost for racers is: $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the race. Children 12 and under are free. A limited number of snowshoe rentals will be available for $5. The cost for non-racers is $5 and children 12 or under are free.
