Baking Day

My little mascot....he is the "Baker Nutcracker".  He stood by me all day today as I started my annual Christmas baking.  I made my Orange spiced chocolate chip shortbread, chocolate truffles, mint chocolate chip cookies, mini pecan pie tarts and a HUGE batch of Granola.  Tomorrow will be my sugar cookies with all the trimmings and my Chocolate Peanut Bark.  I am getting ready for our Open House this coming Saturday, gotta make sure we have yummy goodies for the folks who stop by.  I won't be making my Kahlua this year...got too late a start.  But I will add it back next year!
Orange spiced chocolate Shortbread
The shortbread is my favorite....it is very rich...pure butter, powdered sugar and flour!  Light as air, but a big glass of milk is called for!!  Got Milk?

Today was a great day to bake...the snow has been falling and blowing all day....no reason to go anywhere!!

More holiday decor from the kitchen!  I love my ceramic Chef Chicken....he is donning his Santa hat in place of his white chef's hat!!  Gary is in the background working on a new painting.  His studio is located in the back of the kitchen right now.  Hopefully next year he will have a studio located in a warm heated garage.

Off to finish dinner!  Have a great night...hope to see you soon.
